Festoon and catenary lighting
Even if you’ve never heard of festoon lighting, you’ve probably seen it before. You can find it setting the mood over outdoor dining, or at a dazzling wedding reception. Festoon lights are the long strings of large, round lamps that run across above festive locale. Traditionally, festoon lights were incandescent glass lamps screwed into sockets. Now, improved festoon lighting looks just like glass. They provide a much safer alternative than their historical counterparts, and are powered by LEDs which burn for years without replacement.
Catenary lighting is similar to festoon lighting, but with stronger cables to support larger, heavier lighting. Catenary lighting is common in Europe, where cables are strung from building to building. We see it gaining popularity in North America too, as an alternative to traditional lighting methods.
